Last May 13, 2016, Assessment Analytics (AAI) joined all other CEB organizations and their authorized distributors worldwide in celebrating Global Impact Week (GIW). Through GIW, CEB dedicates a week to corporate social responsibility activities as a way of giving back to the community.
Here in the Philippines, AAI partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build housing for local families. The site was located at BistekVille 4 in Quezon City, one of the largest cities in Metro Manila. Out of around 200,000 informal settler families in QC, 80% are living in danger zones such as waterways and under bridges. This project aims to lessen those numbers and AAI is more than happy to be a part of this initiative.
A group of 25 volunteers were assisted by skilled laborers, each executing tasks to help out with the day’s work. Despite the heavy liftings and the blazing sun, everyone was in big smiles knowing that in two years tops, on that very spot, families would be safer and happier in their new homes. Each took home souvenirs of their own– some were tan-lines and others were dusty shoes and clothes. The most cherished take-home of all was the realization that they were a part of something life-changing. The volunteers got to experience work outside the office where there is no air conditioning, no internet and no comfortable swivel chairs. The experience was more moving for the team than to the benefactors of the housing project.
There are always ways in which we can give back to the community — we don’t have to look far. There are a lot of opportunities to lend a helping hand. Thanks to CEB’s Global Impact Week, we in Assessment Analytics had another chance to give back. Deep in our hearts, we know we didn’t just build houses, we built lives.
